Caney Fork Pygoras yarn and fleece comes from our herd of 24 well-loved happy goats, often blended with fleeces from small alpaca or merino farms in the U.S. Our yarn is processed by a small, American mill. Not familiar with Pygora goats and fleece? It blends the softness of cashmere with the length and bloom of mohair. Purchase unbelievably soft roving for spinning (2 ounce balls) or try our custom yarn blends.
Some of our customers have asked for 100 percent Pygora yarn, so here it is! This creamy white yarn is from two of our lovely wethers, Moonshine and Sir Elton. Their fleece is very fine, so we had it spun into a delicate sport-weight yarn. Skeins are 200 yards each and we have a limited quantity available.
Mountain Meadow Farm Tiny Dancer is one of the few Pygora goats to have won Grand Champion Fleece at three breeders association shows to earn the title of Permanent Grand Champion Fleece. We blended several of her incredibly soft fleeces with a white alpaca fleece and a touch of silk to highlight the natural sheen in Tiny’s fleece. This is a 2-ply DK-weight yarn with 200 yards per skein.

This gorgeous light caramel (almost white) yarn includes fleece from Type A Pygoras Spinner’s Joy Cecelia and her niece Caney Fork Pygoras Clover combined with a yearling merino fleece from Schnitzel, owned by Wool Haven Farm in Michigan. Skeins are 70% Pygora and 30% Merino, 2-ply worsted weight yarn at 150 yards each.
This lovely caramel yarn is 50 percent Pygora from Permanent Grand Champion Fleece goat Mountain Meadow Farm Pepper and 50 percent fawn alpaca from a single alpaca fleece purchased at the Michigan Fiber Festival. This yarn blends several caramel or light brown Pygora fleeces with fleece from Mocha, a two-year-old Moorit Ewe with a micron count of 21 and a comfort factor of 99.6%! We purchased Mocha’s fleece at the Michigan Fiber Festival to blend with our caramel girls. This worsted weight yarn is 65% Pygora and 35% merino and is packaged in 150-yard skeins.
The gorgeous rich brown DK weight yarn is 60% baby alpaca from one light brown baby alpaca and 40% Pygora from two of our pygora does, Little Hawk Farm Blue Bonnet and Caney Fork Pygoras Carolina, who both have particularly fine cashmere-quality fleece. They are mother and daughter. This yarn has a wonderful soft handle and skeins are 200 yards.
This exclusive yarn was produced from several fleeces from Quail Hollow Farm doe Pebbles, who won Grand Champion Fleece at the 2025 Michigan Fiber Festival Sanctioned Pygora Fleece Show. Pebbles’ dark gray fleece is blended 70/30 with a black alpaca fleece purchased from a small farm in North Carolina to produce a worsted weight 2-ply yarn. While this is classified by the mill as worsted weight, it is on the lighter side, so let us know if you’d like us to knit a swatch for evaluation before purchase!
